Eljen Technology is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of industrial systems for process equipment and manufacturing operations. This role combines mechanical design, automation, PLC programming, instrumentation, data acquisition, and software development to create reliable, intuitive, and robust manufacturing equipment. Engineers participate in projects from conceptual design through manufacturing, commissioning, and production support.
The ideal candidate enjoys solving hands-on engineering problems, working directly with equipment, and bridging the gap between hardware and software.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and troubleshoot automated equipment.
- Develop and maintain machine interfaces and operator control systems.
- Maintain industrial communication networks and protocols (e.g. Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, MQTT, and serial communications).
- Install equipment, components, sensors, and wiring on new and existing machines.
- Develop data acquisition and logging systems for process monitoring and reporting.
- Support database integration, reporting, and visualization tools.
- Design and implement electrical panels, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
- Perform testing, commissioning, and validation of new equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and software issues in production environments.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, and user manuals.
- Develop creative solutions for a variety of problems across multiple disciplines.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, technicians, and production personnel to improve equipment performance and reliability.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Experience programming PLCs in an industrial environment.
- Familiarity with industrial control systems and electrical troubleshooting.
- Understanding of industrial networking and communication protocols.
- Ability to read and create schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Capable of managing projects and resolving technical challenges independently.
- Comfortable learning new technologies, processes, and engineering disciplines through independent research and hands-on application.
Preferred
- Experience with BRX, AutomationDirect, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
- Experience with HMI development.
- Experience with SQL databases and data collection systems.
- Experience with SCADA, MES, or industrial reporting systems.
- Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, C#, or similar programming languages.
- Experience with industrial IoT applications.
- Knowledge of instrumentation, process controls, temperature control, pressure measurement, and sensor integration.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, or similar 3D modelling program.
